Denise is telecommunications professional with over 26 years of project management, network design engineering, and billing product management; Twenty one ( 21) of which were with Verizon Business. She has an extensive background in both profit and not-for profit environments. Mrs. McGill is the owner of KBM Enterprises, (http://kbmenterprise.com/) a small family owned company and she is a co-founder of Stone Mountain-Lithonia Youth Empowerment Services, Inc. (SMLYES) a non profit 501 (c) 3 youth advocacy program (http://www.smlyes.com). Denise is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, GA; and has received her BA in psychology with a minor in Sociology.
Mrs. McGill has served ten years as troop leader with the Girl Scout Council of Greater Atlanta retiring in 2011. Her service with Girl Scouts included chairing multiple Girl Scout Service events for The Yellow Wildflowers Service in unit including the annual Cookie Sale campaign, and Father Daughter dances. Denise is also an active member of the Girl Scout Council of Greater Atlanta History and Archive Committee.
Mrs. McGill has been an active member of her local PTA/PTSA for over 15 years. She served as yearbook chair at Wynbrooke Elementary Theme School for six years. Mrs. McGill has served four years as an officer in the capacity as both treasurer and president at Stephenson Middle School (SMS) PTSA. During her service as president, Denise instituted several key fundraising programs; coordinated the second annual Take Your Family to School Week; developed the school’s volunteer recognition program, and their Community Partners Program. She also serves as a member of the federally funded, Best Behavior Management Team, as well as sits on the local School Council for Stephenson Middle School. Mrs. McGill also served as 2009-2010 Band President at Stephenson Middle School.
Mrs. McGill was the past PTSA Treasurer at Stephenson High School. She served as Co-President and is completing her second term of PTSA President at SHS. During her Service as President Denise instituted the first annual “Taste of Stephenson” event. She was tasked with creating a Parent Resource center, which is completed and functional . Under her guidance multiple in school service learning projects were established and completed. Community offerings included Nine week Free Microsoft Office Training classes which were open to the Stephenson, Redan, and Lithonia adult communities. The SHS PTSA also hosted its First Annual Black Tie Affair fundraiser in support of musicianship and the arts for our Fine Arts Programs.
Other involvement includes her service as a member of the Rockbridge-Deshon Community Coalition and the newly formed Stephenson Community Council. She also sits on the Board of Directors of the Wynbrooke Home Owners Association and The James Hardy Patterson Foundation
Denise lives in the Wynbrooke Community located in Stone Mountain, GA with her husband, Craig her teenage son Brandon, daughter Kelli who attends Albany State University, and two other four legged family members Miko and Bear
